scouting notes

Allentown, PA: When we say Allentown offensive/defensive lineman Christian Macaluso is ready to have a big sophomore season in the fall, we mean BIG.

The rising Redbirds sophomore is just 15 years old and already stands at 6'2", 295 pounds. Macaluso was a punishing blocker in Allentown's running scheme in 2021 and did an excellent job in pass protection for Head Coach Andrew Lachenmayer.

But Macaluso also plays on defense, and that is where he may end up making a more noticeable contribution starting in the summer: of course, if you are in the backfield nearly every play and sacking quarterbacks, people are going to notice you.

It will be interesting to see on which side of the ball he has more of an impact in 2022 for Allentown.

Macaluso is also making an impact off the field: he has a 3.5 GPA that is set to rise when his second-semester freshman year grades settle in the coming month.

Macaluso is already on the NJ.com watchlist for 2022, meaning scouts and college coaches are watching.

Here is a scouting report on Macaluso from a WJFL coach.

"We got a chance to see him last fall, and you can tell he will be a force in the coming years. He already has a massive frame, and at just 15, he is not done growing into it. I can see him at 6'4", 6'5" once he gets done growing. Of course, he will also be a huge factor after a year in the off-season training program. I will be very interested to see how much muscle he put on heading into the season.

"You have to remember; he is only going to be a sophomore and has so much time to learn technique and get stronger and quicker. He could be a scary player by his junior season."
