’23 NJ Montgomery Cougar LB/RB Gavin Guidette Leads Team in Tackles in 2021

 

Skillman, NJ: When Gavin Guidette came into the 2021 football season with his Montgomery team, he knew that the Cougars were in the midst of a rebuild.

 

Montgomery had seen a host of players graduate and move on after an 8-2 season in 2019, and then COVID-19 shortened the 2022 campaign.

 

But rebuilding teams are often the ones that are set up for future greatness, and Guidette might be one of the players in the Montgomery program to do just that.

The Class of 2023 student-athlete led the Cougars with 86 tackles in 2021 and is set to see that number increase dramatically in 2022. At 6-0, 195-pounds, the junior is working hard on and off the field to make sure he is ready to go next season.

 

In the classroom, Guidette is already making waves as well at one of the best public schools in the country. He has a 3.7 GPA and a 1410 SAT, numbers which should both increase in the coming semesters.

 

Here is a scouting report on the linebacker:

 

“When you see him warming up, he looks like just another player on the roster. Once the game starts, though, Guidette is everywhere. He is always around the play and made some big stops last season. I like him on offense as well: he can make a play when needed.

 

“This is the type of kid that is a little under the radar, then shows up in his senior season and just is a beast. Everyone then wants to know where he came from; but if you watched any Montgomery games in 2021, you will know Guidette was all over the field. If he can put on some muscle, I think he could be a breakout player in the fall, I really do.”

 

Guidette is a two-sport athlete: football and lacrosse. The latter of which he was recently named Team Captain for this season.
