scouting report

If you have followed the Montgomery football team in New Jersey over the years, you will know Zoran Milich does a good job building teams in cycles.

Usually, the Cougars have a very good season, graduate a ton of players, then have to start again with a large group of underclassmen. Montgomery then goes again towards the top.

In 2022, the team is trending towards the top, and strong safety/outside linebacker Joe Rossman is going to help the Cougars get back to winning ways.

Rossman is the team captain for Milich and will come into the fall ready to end his high school football career in style. While the Cougars struggled in 2021, they still made the playoffs, and did so with many skill players as sophomores and juniors.

Rossman is ready to assume an even bigger role on the defense, and maybe even on offense and special teams: he will do whatever it takes to win games, which is a great trait for any player.

He is 5-11, 180-pounds, and has been working hard in his speed training and weightlifting to build some bulk and get his 40 time (4.7s coach times) down even further.

In the classroom, Rossman has a 3.4 GPA, and that is expected to climb after the grades for junior year settle.

Here is a scouting report on Rossman from one of his coaches:

“The kid is a leader. To be a captain in a program of 100+ players is always a pretty good indicator of what his teammates and the coaches think of him. On the field, he has a good read of the game. I think he could really have a breakout season in 2022.

“Rossman is one of those kids that will always help a program at the next level. He always works hard, he keeps the players positive even when the situation might not be the best, and he practices hard.”
